What makes a good ad or good advertising? Is it the art? Is it the copy? Most would say it’s the ‘big idea’ and ultimately that the message conveyed is understood and comprehended by the audience the ad is being targeted to.
The process of advertising development
Needless to say, it can be a complex process to get to the final output of an ad. Research. Strategy. Brainstorming. Rejection. Repeat.
The trail and error of generating ideas from every possible angle is a process not for the faint of heart. And it can take many days – or sometimes just mere hours.
Good ads needs more than just creativity
What we do know is that advertising creativity paired with insightful research and sound strategy is a powerful force. We put that into practice on each ad project and campaign we undertake. We don’t always look for a humourous solution either, nor do we try to to be so innovative and ‘out of the box’ that we forget the foundation of every great ad – a brand’s benefit-driven product or service. Sometimes the agency just needs to get out of the way and let the product sell itself. That strategy can make for a great ad as well. The key is always to define what ‘great’ really means.
